![]() It’s no surprise that this idea caught the attention of Disney, who would build their next project as a Toys-To-Life experience. Skylanders took off and started selling like hotcakes. The “To-Life” part comes when you placed those toys on the “magic portal” (included with every game) they were able to be used as video game characters that you, as the player, controlled. Skylanders took the long-dormant license of Spyro the Dragon, along with a roster of new creatures, and created toy models of the characters that could be purchased and collected. Skylanders was the first game to enter the, now crowded, Toys-To-Life genre. A year after Toy Story 3: The Video Game released, there was a new player in the family video game arena: Skylanders. This was the spark that lit the path to what Disney Infinity would become.īefore moving forward, we need to make a small detour in 2011. This mode was inspired by what kids do in real life, toss a blanket over a chair to create an impenetrable mountain, build team bases out of cereal boxes, line the floor with action figures, and play until mom calls you for dinner. ![]() The premise was simple, give gamers an open-world toy box where they can play with their digital toys. Toy Story 3: The Video Game introduced gamers to a mode called the “Toy Box”. On the surface, Toy Story 3: The Video game was just another licensed cash grab, but for those who dug a little deeper in, there was something much more. In 2010, Avalanche Released the father of Disney Infinity, Toy Story 3: The Video Game. It was 2005 when Avalanche first started working with Disney, focusing on their Wii and DSlite releases. Avalanche Software is a developer that was founded in 1995 in Salt Lake City. The story doesn’t actually start with Disney Infinity, it starts with Avalanche Software. Disney Infinity started with one goal in mind, one vision that became their mission, “If you can dream it, you can do it!” ![]() Honoring properties and characters that have been cherished for 80 years. Taking experiences that you have dreamed about and making them a reality. Few games come along and capture the imagination of kids and adults alike.
